Are you a new edible gardener who needs help or advice about how to start, expand, or improve your edible garden? 

I can help! I have 18 years of experience growing vegetables, herbs, and berries using permaculture principles in urban and rural settings, plus an educational background in "Urban Ecology." 

 

What is involved in a garden consultation with me? 

First we email to set up a time. Before we meet, you send me some pictures of your garden space and a list of crops you want to grow. <branching.path.farm@gmail.com>

 

I will come to your home / garden location in Norfolk, Haldimand, Brant, or Hamilton. We walk the garden together, I take some rough measurements and draw a simple map of the space. Then at your kitchen/dining table, we will come up with a list of what crops you want to grow, how much and when you want to enjoy them (or you can have that list ready ahead of time for better results)

 

I will come up with a suggested garden plan/map as well as a calendar of when you should prepare beds and when to plant different crops. I will give you some ideas for weed control, soil fertility, pruning/trellising, pest control, pollinator and predator promotion, succession plantings and any other questions or topics you raise.

 

Consultations start at $100 for 2 hours on-site and the rough hand-drawn map and calendar, and include a free copy of a workshop handout I created in 2023 on "how to start your own seedlings at home." I may be able to offer other advice or services extending beyond this first on-site consultation, such as a more detailed map and written advice, or future visits, rates to be negotiated.
