Spring 2025 Updates, Seedling Sales, On-farm Market on Thursdays:

Update from the field:

We are thoroughly busy in the field and greenhouse this time of year. Moving compost, tilling, mulching, setting up irrigation. Weeding the garlic, which is up well. Harvesting the spinach that overwintered outside, and the first spring greens from our hoophouse. We have planted a wide variety of cold-hardy spring crops outside such as carrots, radishes, peas, cabbage and greens like spinach, lettuce, kale, arugula, bok choi and more; and everything except for the first batch of beets is up well. We've even planted our greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers already, hoping for some early harvests from those. Only a couple more weeks until we plant out the outdoor summer crops like tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, cucumbers, celery, and basil. Keep an eye on our social media for occasional pictures, and always feel free to set up a farm tour by appointment, just email us to ask.

Seedling Sales:

Please be aware, we are not doing online pre-orders for seedlings, but we are still growing 1000s of young plants for sale. Each Saturday in May we will be bringing a vanload of seedlings (lettuce, parsley, basil, tomatoes, cucumbers, and much much more, pretty much the same varieties we have sold in recent years) to Ottawa Street Farmers market. And you can also buy our plants on the farm (see next section):

On-Farm Market:

We will start our on-farm market hours for fresh produce and preserves this week on May 8th. On-farm market will be on Thursdays, from 2-8PM, until sometime in October. Like last year, it will be set up in our white hoophouse (market / wash station), near our driveway, house, and parking lot. Like last year, we will always try to be near the market to handle card payments, restock, and custom harvest extra amounts or varieties of produce. But the market will be set up in a way that you can also serve yourself, pay cash and have access to some change.

Also, we will be doing special market days for seedlings on Sundays May 11, 18 & 25, from 10AM - 4PM each of those days. That seedling market will be set up at the south end of the main greenhouse, just 150' north of the market / wash station hoophouse. We will set up appropriate signage to direct traffic.

Ottaws Street Farmers Market:

Lastly, just to reaffirm, we will continue to be at Ottawa Street Farmers Market in east Hamilton on Saturdays from 8-2  for the whole growing and harvest season, until late November.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing interest and support, you help make local small-scale organic farming viable, we couldn't do it without you.
